ŁÓDŹ, POLAND

Łódź is the third largest city in Poland. Located 84 miles southwest of Warsaw, it is one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Called the "Promised Land", Łódź was a major center of Europe’s textile industry and today is a manufacturing base for Dell, Gillette, Merloni, Coca-Cola, Metro AG and LG Group, and other major companies.

The city’s historical buildings have been adapted to beautiful lofts, office buildings, hotels and cultural centers. Manufaktura, a major retail and entertainment center, was built in 2006.

Łódź is also the capital of Polish film. Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polanski and Zbigniew Rybczynski all received their training at the Higher School of Film, Theater and Television.
